Alloys
of gold in the colour range red - yellow - pale
yellow - ‘green’, as distinct from white, usually achieved by alloying gold with
copper, silver and zinc. The colour is determined by the copper/silver (plus zinc)
ratio; the lower the caratage, the wider is the range of colour possible.
