Market Maker

A dealer or trader who is ready to quote clients and counterparties both a bid and offer price, usually at a narrow spread, in spot gold and options (there are no market makers in futures). The London Bullion Market Association distinguishes between market maker members, of whom there are eleven, and ordinary members, who may also be international dealers but do not wish to make a market at all times to all comers.
