Olympic Coins

Special commemorative gold coins are issued for the Olympic Games every four years and sold at a substantial premium. For the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games 10 gram (0.32 ounce) proof coins were issued in eight designs, with limited mintages of 30,000 each (240,000 coins in total requiring 2.4 tonnes (76,800 ounces) of gold). The coins were struck by the Royal Australian Mint and the Perth Mint. See also Commemorative Coins.
