Ormolu

An imitation gold, made up of a yellow alloy of copper and tin (bronze) or occasionally also with zinc (brass), used to decorate furniture and art objects. In France, especially in the eighteenth century, very fine quality ormolu was cast and chiselled for furniture mounts, clock cases, candlesticks and chandeliers.
