Semi-Fabrication/Semi-Fabricators

Sometimes shortened to ‘semis’, is the production by rolling or drawing of gold into alloys of sheet, tube, wire and other specialist articles for the jewellery or watch-making trade. This is undertaken by many of the large refiners whose bars are acceptable good delivery but in most countries there are also firms which specialize in semi-fabrication. In Germany, for example, they include Hafner and Wieland; in Switzerland, Cendres et Métaux and Précinox; and in Spain, Sempsa.
