Survey

A technique used in exploration to determine the presence of a potential orebody.

(i) Airborne: a survey from an aircraft to identify anomalies in the ground that may reflect the presence of mineralization. Airborne surveys include photographic, geophysical and geological surveys.

(ii) Geophysical: the use of geophysical techniques in the search for mineral deposits. The techniques include earth currents, electrical, gravity, heat flow, magnetic, seismic or thermal measurements.

(iii) Geochemical: the use of chemical analysis of rocks, soils, sediments, water and plants to identify chemical anomalies which may indicate an orebody.
