Tola

Unit of weight for gold on the Indian sub-continent. 1 tola = 0.375 ounces (11.1 grams) of 999 fineness usually marketed as ten tola bars (also 5 tolas); the 999 ten tola bars mainly go to India but also circulate widely in the Arabian Gulf States; 999.9 ten tola bars are sold in Saudi Arabia. Swiss refineries account for around fifty per cent of output, supported by UK, South African and Australian production.
