Company Description

Second largest gold producer in North America with attributable 2001 production of 6.1 million oz, and reserves of 82.3 million oz.
Production began at Bulyanhulu in the second quarter 2001, Barrick's newest mine and their first operation in Africa.
Merger with Homestake was initiated in June and formally completed in December 2001 - the Homestake mines contributed 2.4 million oz to the 2001 total.
Construction of the Pascua-Lama property on the Chile/Argentina border was deferred in 2000 due to the low gold and silver price.
In December the Rodeo mine was completed - part of the Meikle underground mine at Goldstrike.
