Company Description

Harmony is South Africa's third largest gold producer, with output in 2001 of 2.3 million oz.
Its main operations are at Randfontein (acquired April 2000), Free State, Evander, Kalgold.
Harmony completed the acquistion of the Elandsrand and Deelkraal mines from AngloGold early in 2001.
The Bissett mine in Canada underperformed in 2000 and operations were suspended in 2001.
In November 2001 the company agreed to acquire four AngloGold Free State mines (Joel, Tshepong, Matjhabeng and Bambamani), in a 50/50 joint venture with ARM (African Rainbow Minerals).
In 2001 Harmony also made a number of acquistions in Australia - New Hampton Goldfields, a 31% interest in Bendigo Mining and on March 8 in the current year, a deal to aquire Hill 50 was sucessfully completed.
Output in 2002 is expected to reach around 3.4 million oz.
