Company Description

• Kinross merged with Amax Gold effective 1 June 1998, on a 50:50 basis and had attributable production of just less than one million oz in 2001.
• The company has whole or partial ownership of five primary operating units at Fort Knox (Alaska), Hoyle Pond (Ontario), Kubaka (Russia), Refugio (Chile) and Blanket (Zimbabwe).
• Operations were suspended at Refugio in May 2001 due to the low gold price.
