Company Description

• Formed in 1993 from the gold assets of Ashton Mining.
• Production performance at Mt Muro (Aurora's principal asset) deteriorated in the second half of the calendar year, with the mine due to be closed in the second quarter of 2002.
  
• Company has deferred development of the Toka Tindung project, North Sulawesi, and has placed its Morobe gold project in Papua New Guinea on the market after deciding to refocus its energies on mining and exploration in Australia.
• The closure of Mt Muro and Morobe will mark the end of Aurora's participation in the region.
