He is a Cornish mining engineer who trained at the Camborne School of Mines before spending almost 20 years holding various positions in production, mineral economics and minerals marketing within the South African mining industry. He contributed the mining entries to the 1997 edition of The Gold Companion and is a regular speaker at international gold conferences.
