Canada's national mint, the Royal Canadian Mint, has been producing coins
in Ottawa, Canada, since 1908. The Royal Canadian Mint is also the oldest and
one of the largest gold refineries
in the Western Hemisphere. Today's modern Mint, with its unsurpassed standards
of craftsmanship in minting circulation and commemorative
collector coins and its reputation as a premier refinery of gold, is known
and respected around the globe. As a profit making Crown corporation, the Mint
is run much like any other company, with a mandate to produce a fair return on
investment for its sole shareholder, the Canadian government. With its headquarters
in Ottawa and a state-of the-art production facility in Winnipeg, the Royal Canadian
Mint today employs over 700 highly-skilled and dedicated individuals involved
in all aspects of coin design, production and marketing in one of the largest
and most complex minting facilities in operation today.
