UBS AG centres its gold operations, in terms of the liquidity of the bank, in Zurich. UBS is also a market-making member of the LBMA in London. In 1998, UBS took over Swiss Bank Corporation, which had previously been an important participant in the gold market. UBS is also a minority shareholder in the Metalor refinery.
