Scoria/Scorification/Scorifier

Scoria, from the Greek for ‘dung’, is the slag or waste remaining after gold (or other metal) has been smelted from an ore by the process of scorification. Scorification often refers to the processing of molten lead to extract any precious metal content. A scorifier is a cup of fire-clay used in assaying precious metals.
